The International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Studies (IJMRS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity. To protect the originality and quality of published research, the journal follows a strict Zero-Tolerance Plagiarism Policy.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as the use of another author’s work, ideas, or words without proper acknowledgment. This includes:

  • Copying text, images, tables, or data without citation

  • Reusing previously published work (self-plagiarism) without permission

  • Paraphrasing too closely without credit

  • Submitting another person’s research or findings as one’s own

  • Using AI-generated content without disclosure (if relevant to field)

Plagiarism, intentional or unintentional, is treated as a serious academic violation.

2. Plagiarism Screening Process

All submitted manuscripts are screened using advanced plagiarism detection tools before peer review.

The journal checks for:

  • Text similarity

  • Repetitive patterns

  • Improper paraphrasing

  • Overlap with previously published literature

The Editorial Office verifies similarity reports manually to eliminate false positives.

3. Acceptable Similarity Limit

IJMRS allows a maximum similarity index of:

  • 15% overall similarity

  • No more than 3% from a single source

Exclusions may apply for:

  • Methodology descriptions

  • Standard phrases

  • References and bibliography

  • Public-domain materials

However, originality must be maintained throughout the manuscript.

4. Actions in Case of Plagiarism

4.1 Before Acceptance

If plagiarism is detected:

  • Authors will be notified with a similarity report.

  • They must revise and resubmit the manuscript to reduce similarity.

  • Serious or repeated plagiarism will result in immediate rejection.

4.2 After Publication

If plagiarism is discovered post-publication:

  • The journal will investigate following COPE guidelines.

  • Possible actions include:

    • Retraction of the article

    • Publication of a retraction or correction notice

    • Blacklisting of the authors

    • Notification to the authors’ institution or funding body

IJMRS is committed to correcting the academic record whenever necessary.

5. Self-Plagiarism Policy

Self-plagiarism is also not allowed, including:

  • Republishing identical or substantially similar work

  • Reusing large sections from previous articles without proper citation

  • Publishing the same data or results in multiple places

Proper attribution and transparency are required when reusing any part of earlier work.

6. Author Responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for:

  • Ensuring originality of the manuscript

  • Citing all sources accurately

  • Obtaining permissions for reused materials

  • Avoiding excessive similarity and duplicate publication

Submission of the manuscript implies that it is the author’s original work.

7. Journal Responsibility

IJMRS is responsible for:

  • Screening all manuscripts for plagiarism

  • Maintaining fairness and transparency

  • Ensuring ethical publishing practices

  • Following COPE best-practice guidelines in all decisions
